Distance Training
Distance Training consists of two Cycles (see Early Intensive Training). There are some aspects of training that cannot be given over distance. Every effort should be made to meet with me in person to ensure that your practice is developing the way it should be. On average, each Cycle can take 9-15 months to complete depending on the pacing of the student. It's important for students to take sufficient time between formal lessons to become familiar with the energies, tools and techniques of Feri. However, taking too much time between formal lessons can disrupt the momentum of the training and cause its own problems. The goal is to develop a practice which is fully embodied and deeply integrated.
Distance Training requires strong self-discipline! Unlike classes where you show up at a scheduled time and place, in Distance Training you have to make the time and energetic commitment to receive the lessons, do the assigned exercises and practices and keep in touch with me. The pace of your training is up to you! I do suggest, however, that you spend no more than 4 weeks with any lesson as the momentum of the training process down-shifts and the results are less effective and at certain junctures can prove to be detrimental.
I use a variety of mediums to teach over distance, including DVD, handwritten and photo-copied materials, telephone meetings, e-mail conversations and ocassional CD recordings. Most of your assigned work will be completed and reported on via e-mail, however, I will ocassionally ask you to send me hand-written materials or objects. Telephone appointments are scheduled after your viewing of each lesson, when the material is fresh and your questions are prominent. Written assignments and updates on your progress are due via email weekly. I will book impromptu phone appointments on an emergency basis.
Students completing Cycles One and Two of the Distance Training (including the in-person visit during Cycle Two) will be given a certificate of completion. At this point, students may opt to enter into a very individualized training (See Advanced Apprenticeship), take a break to integrate what you have learned thus far, work with another Feri teacher, or end Feri training altogether.
On occasion, I am asked to do "advanced" work over distance with students who have completed some training with other Feri teachers or in other Craft contexts. These requests must be handled on a case-by-case basis. While I honor the work you have done thus far on your path, I ask that if you enter training with me, that you do so with a Beginner's Mind.
Feri Initiation is not considered at this level of training in the BlackHeart line, but may be part of your Path should you train in person at more advanced levels with me or another Feri teacher in the future.
Distance Training Tuition: $70 per month. Payment is accepted via Paypal or money order. I do not accept wire transfers or personal checks. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Cora Anderson's care.
Because lessons are individually paced
Distance Training can Begin Anytime
If you are interested in Distance Training and have questions that have not been addressed here, please send e-mail.
If you are interested in applying for Distance Training, please review my Policies, then complete the Preliminary Interview and e-mail it to me. You should know that a rigorous interview process will ensue. This process is for your protection as well as mine and the whole of Feri. If you are Sincere, Daring and Committed you will come through it to know ecstasy beyond your imaginings!
A Note:
I strongly suggest that Distance Students make every effort to meet with me in person at least once during the course of each Cycle, but understand that this may be impossible for international students. Aside from meeting in person and receiving necessary instruction, an added benefit is that you will meet other Feri Priests here. BlackHeart Feri's coven, Metaphysical Kitchen, consists of ten Feri advanced students, practitioners and intiates. There are several other Feri students in the area as well. Feri's are always happy to welcome our "kin" and offer energy, teaching, advice and much irreverant laughter!
Distance Training is a new development in Feri Trad. I can't stress enough that this Current of energy is traditionally passed orally — that is, live and in person from the teacher's word, eyes, breath, gesture and energy to the student. And as much as you can learn through the teachings I provide over distance, there will still be a very integral piece missing until you meet with a Feri teacher in person.
